However, excessive consumerism and mass production of meat often do not consider the welfare and lives of the animals, nor the wastage from surplus of popular cuts. This commercial value consumers and suppliers place on “premium” cuts of meat often devalues off-cuts and trims that are equally nutritious. With the goal of minimal waste in mind, The Dog Grocer works towards creating healthy, nutritious pet treats using a variety of cuts and the “less desirable” offals.

The Dog Grocer's beef treats use human grade, grass-fed beef sourced from Australia and New Zealand. The lifestyles and diets of the grass fed cows (as opposed to their grain fed counterparts) not only have ethical implications, they also have impacts on the nutrient composition of their beef, especially in their fatty acid compositions, containing lower amounts of monosaturated fats and higher concentrations of beneficial omega 3s and CLA.

Beef lung treats are sanitised with ozone before processing. Rich in potassium, selenium, iron and vitamin B12, these chewy bites are great as training treats.

Storage and handling

Transfer the chews to an airtight container and store in the freezer. Best consumed within 4 months from the date of production.
